The Six Great Ends of the Church
The Presbyterian Church (USA) is a
Christian community centered on the six Great Ends of the Church:
-
The Proclamation of the
Gospel. We believe that the good new of God's love in Jesus
Christ is for all the peoples of the world.
-
Building up Christian
community. We strive to develop loving, caring, inclusive
congregations that show the love of God through prayer, nurture
mutual support, and Christian service.
-
The Worship of God. We
respond to God's love through worship by praising God, praying
together, and responding to God's word.
-
Theology Matters.
Presbyterians love God with both their hearts and their minds,
and thus seek to study the scripture and affirm together the
sovereignty of God, the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the
power of the Holy Spirit.
-
The Promotion of Social
Justice. We have been saved in order to serve! We believe in
and work for social, racial, and economic justice for all of
God's peoples.
-
Demonstrating our Faith.
Presbyterians seek to be a people who practice what they
preach.
