A Brief History
The first Presbyterian Church of
DuPont was organized in 1910 by a small group of devoted people,
mostly employees of the DuPont Company. The Church also ministered
to the soldiers of Fort Lewis, and grew steadily until the closure
of the DuPont Company Plant.
The building the church now occupies was built
through the efforts of its members and friends in 1917. The
beautiful stained glass windows were a memorial gift. A ramp has
been added to the original structure for wheelchairs accessibility.
The name was later changed to the DuPont
Community Presbyterian Church because it ministered to the
community. It still functions today in its role as the focal point of
the community of DuPont.
As Northwest Landing continues to develop. It is
our hope and prayer that the church will grow. Activities and
services will be added to meet the needs of our growing community.
